Care Instructions and Tips
CARE INSTRUCTIONS
General Care:
- Always put Jewellery on after applying makeup, perfume, hairspray, and lotion. These can dull metals and gemstones.
- Remove during activities: take Jewellery off before swimming, showering, exercising, or doing household chores. Chemicals like chlorine, detergents, sweat can damage metals and stones.
- Avoid impact: Fine Chains and delicate settings can bend or break under pressure - avoid wearing during sports or heavy lifting.
Cleaning:
- Gold and Platinum (Gold, Rose and Whites):
- Clean with warm water, a mild liquid soap, and a soft brush (baby toothbrush is ideal.)
- Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a lint-free cloth.
Silver (Including sterling):
- Polish with a silver cleaning cloth regularly to prevent tarnish.
- For deeper cleaning, use a silver dip sparingly and rinse well.
Gemstones (Diamonds, Sapphires, Rubies, etc.):
- Most can be cleaned with warm water and mild soap, but avoid soaking porous stones (emeralds, opals, pearls, turquoise).
- Wipe soft/porous stones with a damp cloth only.
Storage:
- Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratches and tangling.
- For chains: close the clasp and lay flat or hang to avoid knotting.
- Keep away from direct sunlight and humidity to reduce tarnishing (especially for silver).
- Use anti-tarnish strips in storage boxes for silver Jewellery.
Special Needs:
- Rhodium- Plated white gold: Plating may wear over time; re-plating every 12-24 months keeps jewellery bright.
- Pearls and opals: very delicate - avoid contact with acids, alcohol, hairspray, and extreme heat. Wipe with a soft damp cloth after each wear.
- Regular checks: Have clasps, prongs, and links checked yearly by a jeweler to ensure stones remain secure and chains haven't weakened.
